A house from 1934 and two people with no idea what they were doing
We bought Tudor’s grandparents’ house in 2016, with a broken roof and an untouched orchard. We thought it would take a year.
It took five
We kept the beams, the log walls and the size of the rooms. We changed everything you cannot see: the plumbing, the insulation, all thirty windows. Tudor learned carpentry from a man in Peștera, who still comes to check.
In 2021 we opened with two rooms. The first guests stayed in a house with no stair railing and came back anyway.
How things stand today
We have five rooms and will not have more. We heat with wood from the ridge, buy food from the village and hire people from here. It is not a principle, it is just simpler.

Tudor Bârsan
Host and carpenterThe grandson of those who built the house. He rebuilt it almost alone, over a length of time he will not disclose. He lights the fire and the hot tub.
