The day starts when you wake up.
An old house with five rooms in Măgura, on the ridge between Piatra Craiului and the Bucegi. We have no schedule. We have a fire, warm bread and a path that starts in the yard.
Check availabilityTea is taken on the porch
The ridge lights up from the top down, and Nea Gheorghe’s cows are already heading for the valley. The thermos has been on the table since six. You do not have to talk to anyone.
Oven bread, cheese from over the fence
Tanti Veta takes the bread out when it smells like bread. The eggs are from the yard, the cheese from the sheepfold next door, the jam is ours. Served until 11, weekends too.
The path starts in the yard
Walk out through the back gate and you are already on the ridge. Two hours to Peștera, or a whole day to La Om peak. We will draw the route on a napkin.
Five rooms, no two alike
The house dates from 1934, and the rooms are still the size Tudor’s grandparents made them. One is in the attic, one has a wall of glass, one stands alone in the orchard.
Hot water, cold air
We light it two hours ahead, with beech wood. Stay in until the stars come out or someone calls you to the table.
The evening ends by the fire
There are no televisions. There is a stove, a deck of cards with two missing and a story Tudor never finishes the same way twice.
„Am venit pentru două nopți și am rămas patru. Pâinea de dimineață și liniștea de pe prispă sunt greu de explicat cuiva care n-a stat acolo.”
„Copiii au dormit în Pod ca niciodată, iar noi am stat seara la foc până s-a stins. Tudor ne-a desenat traseul pe un șervețel și a fost exact cum a spus.”
„Fereastra Mare merită fiecare leu. Te trezești și muntele e în cameră.”
